Army JROTC Drill Team

Purpose & Membership

The purpose of the Drill/Color Guard Team is to develop the team concept for competitive drill and ceremony while challenging the individual cadet to develop and hone their skills. Must be taking JROTC to be a member.

The Drill Team competes in the Greater Midlands Area Drill League.

Army JROTC Air Rifle Team

Purpose & Membership

The Air Rifle Team shoots a .177 caliber air rifle pellet for competition.

The team is affiliated with the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Shooters engage targets from 10 meters in three positions (prone, standing, and kneeling). Must be taking JROTC to be a member.

The team meets Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday after school in the Annex Cafeteria and competes in the Greater Midlands Area Rifle League and American Legion Junior Shooting Sports Program matches.

Army JROTC Raider Team

Purpose & Membership

The Raider Challenge Fitness Team is composed of the best physically fit cadets.

Each team consists of 8–10 members who run, jump, and climb through obstacles and events that challenge the physical readiness of the team as well as the individual. Must be taking JROTC to be a member.

The Raider Team competes in North and South Carolina and is a member of the Low Country Area Raider League.

Be a Fan Club

Purpose & Membership

Mission Statement: To promote inclusion and the integration of students with lifelong disabilities and their non-disabled peers in a relaxing and fun social atmosphere.

Options to participate include Breakfast with Buddies before school (7:35–7:55), recreational and enrichment activities after school and weekends, and fan favorites like unified elective classes and Unified Special Olympics.

Students can make a difference starting with a commitment of just 15 minutes a month.

Beta Club

Purpose & Membership

Mission Statement: To promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.

Requirements: 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students with a minimum 3.5 GPA (weighted and unweighted) may apply to join.

This is Senior Beta Club; Junior Beta Club membership does not transfer. Students are expected to complete service projects, and new members must participate in the induction ceremony.

There are three levels of membership: Leadership, Convention, or General. Members pay a one-time fee of $35.

Books & Brunch

Purpose & Membership

The Books & Brunch Novel Club meets in the library once a month during Advisory to read and discuss books, including South Carolina Young Adult Book Award (YABA) nominees.

Copies of YABA books are available to check out in the library and may also be available in ebook or audiobook format through Sora.

Club participants enjoy brunch during each meeting.

Demonettes Dance Team

Purpose & Membership

The Lugoff-Elgin Dance Team, also known as “The Demonettes,” is a year-round audition-based dance team consisting of talented students from Lugoff-Elgin High School.

These dancers perform at school athletic games, compete in local competitions, and are involved in community events.

Auditions happen at the end of the 4th quarter before summer break. Please reach out to dance teacher/coach Gracie Buring for more information.

Dynamic Demon Steppers

Purpose & Membership

The Dynamic Demon Steppers is a team built on traditional influences of step, pep, dance, and artistic performance made famous by the historic Divine Nine sororities and fraternities.

The Dynamic Demon Steppers perform at athletic events, school functions, and school-based community events.

Students may audition during the last week in September. For additional information, please contact the advisor/coach.

Educators Rising

Purpose & Membership

Educators Rising meets the first Wednesday of each month and is committed to promoting a positive atmosphere in local schools and celebrating both teachers and students.

If students are interested in becoming future educators or simply hope to be involved in creating a positive atmosphere at LE and other local schools, Educators Rising is the club for them.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

Purpose & Membership

The mission of FCA is to present to athletes and coaches and all whom they influence the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.

Meeting dates vary throughout the months, so students should listen to announcements for meeting times.

There are no membership requirements, and everyone is welcome.

Gaming Club

Purpose & Membership

Mission Statement: The Game Club gathers to play card games, chess, dominoes, and video games, and has the best time together. There is no fee, and anyone can join.

Meetings start September 12, 2025, from 3:30–4:30 p.m. and continue every other week in Annex 209. Anyone interested in gaming, board games, and more is welcome to join.

Junior Leadership

Purpose & Membership

Junior Leadership Kershaw County is a leadership development program co-sponsored by the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center, the Kershaw County School District, and Camden Military Academy.

It is designed to give high school juniors and seniors opportunities to observe and learn about leadership characteristics and to create a spirit of cooperation and friendship among representatives from Camden, Lugoff-Elgin, North Central, and Camden Military.

Students apply at the end of their sophomore or junior year and are selected by a committee of teachers.

KC Robotics Team

Purpose & Membership

The mission of the KC Robotics Team is to inspire Kershaw County students in grades 7–12 to become leaders through participation in mentor-based FIRST® robotics programs that build science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills, inspire innovation, and foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

The team is open to any student in grades 7–12 who lives in or attends school in Kershaw County. The team meets at the Lugoff-Elgin High School Annex.

Key Club

Purpose & Membership

Mission Statement: Key Club is an international student-led organization that provides members with opportunities to provide service, build character, and develop leadership.

Core Values: Leadership, character building, caring, and inclusiveness.

Activities may include Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, volunteering at the animal shelter in Camden, food drives for local food banks, and other service projects.

Open to anyone who would like to serve the community.

National Art Honor Society

Purpose & Membership

The mission of NAHS is to gather artists who want to try out new media, showcase art, and support and fundraise at LEHS and other KCSD community events with activities such as face painting or art sales.

This club also supports LEHS Art Department exhibits, including pop-ups, hallway displays, and formal exhibits.

Students must have taken or be currently enrolled in an art class at LE. A fee of $25 is collected at the beginning of the year for supplies, T-shirts, and events.

LE Dramatic Demons

Purpose & Membership

Mission Statement: To provide a means for individuals to express themselves theatrically in a positive, creative, and friendly environment. The club strives to engage the imagination of students and the community by creating quality and dynamic works of theater.

Vision: To ignite a lifelong passion for the arts by developing a thriving group of young artists.

Anyone can join; however, auditions are required to be a cast member in productions.

Purpose & Membership

The mission of the Freshman Orientation Leaders is to ease the transition from middle school to high school.

Upperclassmen are assigned a group of freshmen to guide throughout their first year of high school. They encourage and advise their students.

Literacy Express

Purpose & Membership

The goal of Literacy Express is to promote a love of reading to younger generations.

Members travel to West Wateree area elementary schools—Blaney, Doby’s Mill, Lugoff, Wateree, and West Wateree Early Learning Academy—several times a year, as well as the Kershaw County Read-In and South Carolina State Read-In once per year, to participate in read-alouds.

Service hours are granted for participation, and a scholarship opportunity is available for seniors who have participated in at least four events. To sign up, students should complete the Google Form and watch their email for updates.

Madrigal Singers

Purpose & Membership

The Madrigal Singers is an after-school auditioned choir for students who like to sing in choir but cannot fit chorus into their schedule.

Students perform with school choir concerts and present a special Renaissance Madrigal Dinner in December.

National Honor Society

Purpose & Membership

The purpose of the National Honor Society is to honor students who have demonstrated excellence in Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.

Membership Requirements:

  • Must be a junior or senior
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 4.0
  • Must have successfully completed at least two honors-level courses by the end of sophomore year
  • No student who has earned an “F” as a final grade in any high school level course will be considered
  • Must not have any discipline referrals throughout high school; discipline is checked before cord distribution
  • Must be in attendance at the high school during the semester immediately before being considered for selection

Once inducted, students must complete 15 hours of community service per semester (30 hours per school year), participate in club service projects, attend mandatory monthly meetings (one unexcused meeting per semester is allowed), and pay national and local dues.

S2S Military Students Club

Membership Eligibility

Children of the following are eligible to join:

  • Active duty members of the uniformed services, including National Guard and Reserve members on active duty orders (Title 10)
  • Members or veterans who are medically discharged or retired for one year
  • Members who died on active duty, for a period of one year after death
  • Uniformed members of the Commissioned Corps of NOAA and the United States Public Health Service (USPHS)

Spanish Club

Purpose & Membership

The mission of the Spanish Club is to give students opportunities to learn more about and appreciate Hispanic and Latino cultures. It is open to any student regardless of language experience.

The club meets once a month to participate in cultural and school enrichment projects.

Dues: $10.00, payable to any Spanish teacher.

Student Council

Purpose & Membership

Student Council/Government represents the interests of students to school administration and district officials. The council also works to create positive activities for the student body.

Elected representatives meet on Wednesdays during Advisory.

The Writing Club

Purpose & Membership

The Writing Club is dedicated to helping creators and students refine their writing skills through constructive criticism and research into other writing styles.

The club’s primary goal is to educate members and provide space and support for Lugoff-Elgin High School students to experiment with and refine creative writing skills in novels, poetry, short stories, and more.
